Creativity has always been woven into the fabric of my life.
Long before Haus of Suzette, I was drawn to artistic expression in many forms…singing with a jazz band, playing piano, ballroom dancing, photography, videography, broadcasting, and even working as an on-field announcer for the Charlotte Knights. Each experience taught me something different about composition, presentation, storytelling, movement, balance, and the way an environment can make people feel.
Animals have always been another great passion of mine, and for many years I devoted much of my time to working with them, eventually focusing on the ethical preservation and revival of an exceptionally rare dog breed. It was incredibly meaningful work, but creativity never stopped calling me back.
My love for interiors truly came into focus when my husband and I renovated our current home several years ago.
We were fortunate to have a generous budget that allowed me to explore the renovation and decorating process in depth. We initially hired a general contractor, but I soon discovered that many of the trades and professionals he was hiring were the very same people I would have chosen myself, with an additional commission fee added for managing the process.
So, I made a decision that changed everything.
I left my position at the time and took over the renovation as the general contractor myself.
What began as a practical decision quickly became one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences of my life. I loved managing the moving parts, sourcing materials, selecting finishes, problem-solving, coordinating trades, watching a concept evolve, and ultimately creating a home that felt deeply personal and beautifully considered.
When the renovation was complete, friends and family began asking who had designed our home. Many were surprised to learn that I had handled the renovation and design myself, and before long, people were asking me to help transform their own spaces.
At the time, I chose to remain focused on my work with animals and the preservation program I had built. Interior decorating became the creative passion I kept tucked away for another chapter.
Haus of Suzette is that next chapter.
Today, I’m returning to the creative work that has followed me throughout my life…only now, it is expressed through interiors.
My approach is rooted in the belief that beautiful spaces should feel collected rather than contrived, polished without feeling impersonal, and elevated without sacrificing comfort. I love combining color, texture, art, lighting, furnishings, and unexpected details to create rooms that feel intentional, layered, and uniquely reflective of the people who live or work in them.
For me, decorating is not simply about making a room look beautiful...
It is about creating an atmosphere.
It is about walking into a space and immediately feeling something.
And most importantly, it is about helping my clients create spaces that feel unmistakably their own.
